Gesture Drawing Class
6–7:30pm
Gesture drawing is a technique that aims to capture fluidity and motion, infusing illustrations with a greater sense of life and vitality. In this class, instructor and illustrator Robin Mork will share methods of working quickly and lightly to capture fluid gesture and moving figures using both charcoal and brush and ink. Afterward, attendees will be invited to apply their new skills to illustrate a live dance performance in the museum’s Main Gallery.
Robin Mork is a Brooklyn-based illustrator and book cover designer, and an adjunct assistant professor of illustration and design at CUNY Queens College. She has a BA from Smith College and an MFA in Illustration from the School of Visual Arts. Clients include Simon & Schuster, JP Morgan Chase, and Columbia University, among others.
