First Friday is back at Poster House—On Friday March 4, the museum will be open for free with extended hours till 9pm! Stop by for your first chance to see our newest exhibitions and join in the fun by attending an activity, workshop, or performance throughout the day (activities to be announced). Every First Friday is different, offering unique opportunities to engage with rotating exhibitions and the permanent collection. Proof of vaccination and masks are required for entry; please see below for complete details.

1 pm: Tour of The Utopian Avant-Garde: Soviet Film Posters of the 1920s
Join Assistant Director of Education Sierra Van Ryck De Groot for a tour of Poster House’s newest exhibition The Utopian Avant-Garde: Soviet Film Posters of the 1920s. this guided tour will explore the golden age of Soviet graphic design, showcasing the work of Alexander Rodchenko, the Stenberg brothers, Semyon Semyonov, and many more.

3pm: PH x College: Peter Max Clock Painting-Sold Out!
Join Assistant Director of Education Sierra Van Ryck De Groot for a clock-painting activity inspired by Poster House’s Exhibition Peter Max: Cosmic Advertising. Max created commissions and advertisements for a wide range of clients, from the Woodstock Music Festival (Summer of Love) to bedsheets to clocks for General Electric (GE), the latter of which act as inspiration for this event.

4pm: In Person Archives Tour-$25
Don’t miss this rare and exclusive opportunity to get a behind-the-scenes look at Poster House’s permanent collection! Led by Collections Manager Melissa Walker, this intimate tour will give 10 people the chance to explore highlights from the museum’s collection of over 10,000 posters from around the world. Catch sneak previews of upcoming exhibition material, take a peek at recent acquisitions for the Living Archive, and get up close and personal with the museum’s growing collection. 5:30pm: Make Your Own Poster with Rush Jackson-$10
Join designer and artist Rush Jackson for a process-based poster making workshop. Explore the fundamentals of poster-making through accessible analog techniques inspired by “The Utopian Avant-Garde: Soviet Film Posters of the 1920s’. Participants will leave with their very own handmade poster; Advance registration required.
